A community initiative tackling plastic waste through biology
OpenPETase brings together researchers, artists, engineers, and other creative practitioners to work on plastic waste, using PETase enzyme biology as an entry point for public engagement.
The group runs ongoing public workshops to build basic biology literacy and awareness of plastic pollution — including a “Central Dogma” biology-basics workshop held in April 2025.
